President Pervez Musharraf has appreciated the book titled 'Press Freedom and the role of Newspaper Editors in Pakistan" written by Mahmudul Aziz.

Acknowledging the receipt of the book addressed to the President General Pervez Musharraf, his private secretary Major General Shafaatullah Shah said in his letter addressed to Mahmudul Aziz as follows:

"I Wish to acknowledge with gratitude the receipt of the book: "Press Freedom and the Role of Newspaper Editors in Pakistan" which has been presented to the President. It is thoughtful of you to have extended this benign gesture.

"The book is manifestation of substantial research undertaken in completion of this splendid work on one of the most important edifice of state-the Press. The President wishes you the best in your future endeavours.'

Mahmudul Aziz, author of the book has sent in reply a letter thanking President Musharraf for the very encouraging response from his side to the book.

It may be mentioned here that the book was launched at a ceremony in Karachi on January 12, 2005 presided over by Begum Khurshid Abdul Hafiz, Chairman of the UPP and mother of Mahmudul Aziz.

The book, comprising 348 pages, details the role of newspaper editors in Pakistan for Press freedom as also a special chapter on the First All India Muslim Newspaper Editors Conference held in New Delhi on May 9, 1947. The address at this historic conference by Khan Liaquat Ali Khan is also given in the book.
